The wet end of the paper machine produces most of the heat and moist air leaks into the machine hall. Thus the wet end exhaust plays a key role as far as the machine hall air flow dimensioning is considered.

Case: BillerudKorsnäs, Skärblacka: PM9 air system rebuild.
The BillerudKorsnäs Skärblacka PM9 machine hall ventilation system needed updating. The amount of supply air was insufficient. The air balance and working conditions needed a new supply air system and a heat recovery system.
The benefits of energy efficiency are manifold – lower energy bills, improved air quality, reduced greenhouse gases, increased energy security, and a deferred need to invest in new infrastructure.
A TM Systems case study shows that using the latest developments in energy efficiency in paper making can result in savings of up to 9 %.
Case: Stora Enso’s Imatra mills at Kaukopää wanted to improve the machine hall ventilation around the PK6 paper machine.
The investment aimed to improve the machine hall ventilation, to even out the temperature differences and to increase the performance of heat recovery in the ventilation. The goal was also to create savings in energy usage by decreasing the steam usage in supply air heating.
